Oasis Fellowship would like to announce that the speaker for
the November 20th meeting will be Darrell Cook, Director for the
Virginia Tech Baptist Campus Ministry. Darrell
is originally from Roanoke, VA and has served as the BCM Director since 1998. Darrell is also an active member and leader
at the Northstar Church in Blacksburg, VA.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Family and Child Development as
well as a Master of Business Administration at Virginia Tech. He also obtained his Master of Divinity from
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. Darrell and his wife Laura have 5 children
and his hobbies include writing, public speaking, and reading to his kids. Please come out and join us for fellowship, worship, and the

October 16th Speaker
Oasis Fellowship would like to announce that the speaker for
the October 16th meeting will be Dr. Tommy McDearis, Senior Pastor
for Blacksburg Baptist Church. This is Tommy's second time speaking to our group. Tommy is originally
from Calhoun, Georgia. He earned his
undergraduate degree at Berry College in Mount Berry, GA and obtained his seminary training at
Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Tommy has been at Blacksburg Baptist since
1997 and also serves as the local Police Chaplin for the Blacksburg Police and Virginia Tech Police
Departments. Tommy and his wife Susan have
three adult children who they cherish and adore. Come on out and enjoy the fellowship,
worship, and message that will be based on our 2013-14 theme, “Walk by Faith.”

September 18th Speaker
Oasis Fellowship would like to announce that the speaker for
the September 18th meeting will be Sandy Young, Pastor and Elder for
Blacksburg Christian Fellowship (BCF) located on North Main Street in Blacksburg, VA. Sandy had attended BCF as a student and new
believer in the early 1970s, was appointed the first full-time elder of the
Fellowship in December 2000. Sandy’s interests
are many including the Bible, theology, history, apologetics, fountain pens,
Hokie football, and good coffee. Please
come out and join us for fellowship, worship, and the message that will be based on

August 21st Speaker
There has been a change.
Oasis Fellowship would like to announce that the speaker for the August
21st meeting will now be Rusty Mullins, Pastor for Northfork Blacksburg
Baptist in Ellett Valley. Rusty is
originally from Wise, VA and now resides in Radford, VA. He is also a chaplain with the New River Valley Hospice and has a
student ministry to the New River Community College. His wife, Jennifer, is the Baptist Campus
Minister at Radford University. Come on

April 17th Speaker
Oasis Fellowship would like to announce that the speaker for
the April 17th meeting will be Gary McCoy, Pastor for the Blacksburg Christian Church in Blacksburg, VA. Gary is a lifelong Blacksburg resident and a graduate of Blacksburg High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from
Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, WV and a Master of Arts degree in
Education from Virginia Tech. Gary
served the children of Blacksburg as an educator for more than 30 years. He was the principal of Harding Avenue
Elementary School for 19 years and the principal of Blacksburg Middle School
for 13 years before retiring from the MCPS system in 2004. In 2005, Gary became a licensed minister of
the Region of Virginia and served the Craig Healing Springs Christian Church
before accepting the call to serve Blacksburg Christian Church in August
2007. Over the years, Gary served the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Virginia as committee member,
chairperson, and Moderator as well as director of Triple I camp at Craig
Springs for 13 years. Gary and his wife,
Jane, have 2 children and 5 grandchildren.

March 20th Speaker
Oasis Fellowship would like to announce that the speaker for
the March 20th meeting will be Jeff Noble, Lead Pastor for the Northstar Church in Blacksburg, VA. Jeff is
originally from Little Rock, Arkansas. He
earned his undergraduate degree at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia,
AR and obtained his seminary training at Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. Before
joining Northstar in 2009, he faithfully served as a campus minister at the
University of Arkansas at Monticello for 8 years before planting Journey Church
and serving as its founding pastor for 6 years.
His hobbies include: basketball,
reading, fantasy football, and coffee.
Jeff and his wife Carolyn have two teenage children who are all active
in the local community. Come on out and

February 20th Speaker
Oasis Fellowship would like to announce that the speaker for
the February 20th meeting will be Dr. Charles Taylor, Professor and
Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Political Science within
the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. Dr. Taylor received his Bachelor’s degree
from Carson Newman College and earned both his Master’s and PhD from Yale
University in 1963. He has been a
dedicated member of the Virginia Tech community since 1970, serving in several
capacities and winning numerous awards. Come

January 16th Speaker
Welcome back.... it's been a while, the January 2013 speaker is Pastor Debbie Hutton, a native of Roanoke,
Virginia and has her degree from Averett University in Danville,
Virginia. Upon graduation she taught special education in Henry and
Roanoke Counties. She was named Roanoke County teacher of the Year in
1990. Responding to the call of the Lord upon her life, she left teaching
in the public school system and opened a private tutorial program, called
"One-to-One," operating out of the basement of her church in
Salem until 1997. During that time she worked upstairs in the church as
secretary for her Pastor and worked to complete her licensure for Ministry
through Maranatha College of Pastoral Ministries of the International
Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was ordained in 1998 and became
Associate Pastor / Director of Pastoral Care at Christian Life International in
Salem, VA until 2009. Following the lead
of the Holy Spirit and the passion of her heart, she now serves as Senior
Pastor at Faith Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pearisburg, VA. Pastor Debbie is married to her beloved
husband of 41 years. She has two sons, one who is the Youth Pastor of her
former home church and the other who serves our country in Iraq as a civilian
contractor. She also has two beautiful grandsons whom she loves
and teaches the faithfulness of our Lord from generation to
generation. Come on out and enjoy the
